What is an Instagram comment picker?

An Instagram comment picker is a tool that reads the comments on a giveaway post and randomly selects one or more winners for you, instead of you scrolling and eyeballing a pick by hand. For any giveaway with more than a handful of entries, a manual pick is slow, easy to get wrong, and hard to prove was actually fair if a winner is ever questioned.

Brika's comment picker also automatically applies the rules brands typically attach to a giveaway before the draw happens: a required hashtag, a minimum number of tagged friends, and excluding past winners.

Why use a random picker instead of choosing manually?

Manually picking a winner from hundreds or thousands of comments is slow, and entrants have no way to verify it was fair. Brika's picker selects winners server-side using a cryptographically secure random number generator, so every eligible comment has an equal, verifiable chance. It's not a scroll-and-guess, and not a shuffle that can be nudged one way or another.

How Brika's comment picker works

  1. Paste the link to your public Instagram post or Reel and name your giveaway.
  2. Add an optional required hashtag, a minimum tagged-friends count, and any usernames to exclude.
  3. Pick how many winners you want, up to 10, and run the draw. Brika reads every comment and filters out anything that breaks your rules.
  4. See your winners instantly with their profile and comment. Copy the results to announce them.

Instagram giveaway rules to keep in mind

  • State clearly in your post that the giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Instagram or Meta.
  • Post your entry rules and eligibility (age, location, one entry per person) directly on the giveaway post.
  • Check your local sweepstakes or promotion laws. Requirements vary by country and, in the US, by state.
  • Contact winners through a verifiable channel (their listed email or a reply from their real account) before announcing publicly.
  • Keep a record of the eligible entries and winners in case a participant asks how the winner was chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Is the winner selection actually random?

Yes. Winners are chosen server-side with a cryptographically secure random number generator, the kind used for security-sensitive systems, not Math.random or a plain shuffle. Before the draw runs, Brika filters out anything that breaks your rules, a required hashtag, a minimum tagged-friends count, or a past winner you've excluded, then every comment left in the pool gets an equal, verifiable chance. The draw happens before you ever see the result, so there's no way to steer it.

Do I need to connect my Instagram account?

No. You just need a free Brika account and a link to a public Instagram post or Reel. Brika reads the post's public comments directly and never asks for your Instagram login or any account permissions.

Does it work on private accounts?

No, only public posts and Reels. Brika reads comments the same way anyone visiting the post would see them, so a private account has nothing for it to read. Make the post public for the draw, then switch it back after if you'd like.

What happens if my post has more than 500 comments?

Free accounts can draw from posts up to 500 comments. Bigger giveaways need a paid plan: Solo covers up to 9,000, Growth up to 15,000, and Pro or Agency have no cap at all. Brika tells you which plan a specific post needs before you spend a run on it, so you're never surprised mid-draw.

Is this tool free to use?

Yes, with a free Brika account. Every plan gets at least one comment-picker run a week (Instagram and TikTok share the same weekly allowance), and paid plans unlock more runs plus the higher comment-count limits above.

Does using a comment picker follow Instagram's giveaway rules?

Brika only reads public comment data to run the draw, it never posts, follows, or takes any action on your account. You're still responsible for the giveaway itself following Meta's Promotion Guidelines: state clearly that Instagram isn't sponsoring it, post your entry rules and eligibility on the post itself, and check your local sweepstakes laws.

Does Brika have a comment picker for TikTok too?

Yes. Brika's TikTok Giveaway Comment Picker works the same way, paste a public TikTok video link and it runs the identical cryptographically secure draw. It shares the same weekly run allowance as the Instagram picker rather than giving you a separate quota.
